Artist Samantha Purze was born and raised in northwest Indiana along the shore of Lake Michigan. She received a BFA in Ceramics from Southern Illinois University in 2019, and is currently a Ceramics Post Baccalaureate Student at Indiana University Southeast for the 2019/2020 academic year. Sam began working with clay in 2011. She has been the head studio technician and ceramics instructor for The Clay Cabin, a community ceramics studio she kickstarted for The Dunes Art Foundation in 2016. In 2019, she also began teaching ceramics classes for the Art Barn School of Art in Porter, Indiana. Sam is a Windgate Charitable Foundation Scholar and the 2019 Rickert-Ziebold award recipiant. Her objective is to educate, popularize, and demonstrate the ceramic arts while developing her own work through continued studio practice.
